Ecolife™ Stabilized Weather-Resistant Wood
Featured on ABC’s Extreme Makeover: Home Edition We are pleased to announce that Ecolife™ Stabilized Weather-Resistant Wood was featured in the season finale of ABC’s Extreme Makeover: Home Edition (EMHE) as part of a very special outdoor living area. The family The season finale recognized the Williams family of Pine Mountain Valley, Georgia: Jeremy and his wife, Jennifer, and their children, Josie and Jacob. Jeremy, a successful local high school football coach, has Lou Gehrig’s Disease or ALS, a fatal, progressive disease that affects nerve cells in the brain and spinal cord and interferes with the brain's ability to control muscle movement. Meanwhile, young Jacob has a disease that causes paralysis from the waist down.
Palm Harbor Homes, Inc. and its wholly-owned modular home subsidiary, Nationwide Homes, Inc. provided EMHE with a single-story, energy-efficient modular “dream” home designed to allow Jeremy and Jacob freedom of movement and easy access to every room. In addition, the eco-friendly home is expected to have an ENERGY STAR qualification and the National Association of Home Builders Green Certification. The EMHE team and hundreds of volunteers built this remarkable home on the site in just 109 hours. The deck Among the volunteers were crewmembers from The Deck Store in Apple Valley, Minnesota. Owner Bob Heidenreich and project manager Justin Mars coordinated the design and construction of a beautiful outdoor living environment for the Williams’ new home using Viance’s Ecolife Stabilized Weather-Resistant Wood. Pressure-treated by Sunbelt Forest Products of Bartow, Florida, Ecolife was the ideal lumber for the project, according to Justin: “Ecolife requires minimal maintenance, is eco-friendly and will last a long time in the Georgia climate. It will be simple for the family to care for their new deck.” The Deck Store built the 20’ 9” x 24’ 3” deck with the help of volunteers in just two days. Designed in a beautiful herringbone pattern, it was stained in rich cedar with Mahogany-stained handrails and arbor. A 14’ ramp provided easy entry to a new, specially equipped playground. Viance was honored to be part of this heart-warming project. Learn more about this exciting build at ABC.com or watch this episode online.
